Main Duties and Responsibilities for a Trainee Transport Clerk

Trainee Transport Clerk Key Responsibilities

  • Scan Proof of Delivery (POD) documents and maintain organized records.

  • Prepare Export and Import documentation, including Dangerous Goods Notifications (DGNs) for shipping lines.

  • Book consignments onto the Azyra freight system and ensure all customs paperwork is accurately completed.

  • Liaise with transport companies to meet customer delivery and collection requirements.

  • Quickly identify and alert management to any issues that could impact deadlines.

  • Maintain the company’s image, procedures, and service standards.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of all logistics documentation.

  • Update and manage internal systems supporting the movement of goods.

  • Carry out additional ad hoc duties as assigned by management.

Skills and Requirements for a Trainee Transport Clerk

What We Look for in a Trainee Transport Clerk

  • GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.

  • Previous knowledge of exports and customs procedures is beneficial but not essential.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under pressure.

  • Basic computer literacy; Microsoft Office skills preferred.

  • Strong team player qualities and proactive attitude.

  • Good planning skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
