Truck Driver – Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of building materials to assigned customers while ensuring proper loading, handling, and transportation of heavy cargo. Your key duties include:

  • Operating trucks in compliance with commercial driving regulations and maneuvering in challenging conditions.

  • Completing required paperwork and addressing customer questions or concerns by relaying them to the supervisor.

  • Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections to identify any defects or maintenance needs and reporting truck conditions.

  • Ensuring the vehicle remains in safe operating condition, including refueling and routine maintenance.

  • Maintaining accurate logs and records per D.O.T. regulations.

  • Assisting with loading and unloading trucks when needed and securing cargo for safe transit.

  • Keeping the truck and work area clean while promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (or two years of equivalent work experience).

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with proven ability to operate tractor/trailer combinations safely.

  • Minimum of two years of truck driving experience.

  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations and compliance with company driver qualifications.

  • Ability to perform duties in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with flatbed trucks.

  • Knowledge of building materials and prior forklift experience is a plus.
