The Role:
As a Special Operations Threat Investigations Analyst on our Trust and Safety team, you’ll investigate potential platform misuse, analyze abuse trends, and maintain critical systems. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering to improve tooling, identify risks, and communicate findings to stakeholders. Your passion for Trust & Safety or Information Security and proven track record in technical project delivery are key.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct threat investigations related to Cloudflare platform misuse.
- Analyze external abuse trends to inform Trust & Safety and Cloudforce One priorities.
- Maintain existing Trust & Safety systems.
- Contribute to success metrics through platform abuse coverage and actionable intelligence.
- Create high-quality reports and executive briefings on abuse trends and findings.
- Conduct ongoing research on emerging threats and methodologies.
- Promote innovation, growth, and collaboration within internal teams.
- Foster strategic partnerships with industry peers.
- Develop and update Trust & Safety policies and documentation.
- Assist in defining unmet system and tooling needs and build business cases.
- Identify opportunities to boost team efficiency and data quality.
- Coordinate with Trust & Safety Engineering on business and environmental changes.
- Ensure system compliance with security and access policies.
- Shepherd user acceptance testing of systems and tools.
- Track and resolve system issues promptly.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
- Participate in on-call schedules.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in threat investigations, threat intelligence, or Trust & Safety/Information Security with a strong focus on investigations.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and a strong bias for action and ownership.
- Well-rounded technical background in infrastructure, web services, and security.
- Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with competing priorities.
- Maturity, high judgment, negotiation, influence, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools (e.g., BigQuery) with advanced data analysis skills.
- Experience with one or more of: Python, JavaScript, Go, Node.js, Cloudflare Workers, browser scripting, shell scripting (preferred).
Bonus Points:
- Understanding of DNS and how the Internet works.
- Experience operating and maintaining websites.
- Experience working with Public Policy and Legal teams.
- Experience building and maintaining Trust & Safety systems or tooling.
- Understanding of legal and Trust & Safety requirements for hosting providers.
Compensation:
Compensation may vary based on location. Estimated annual salary for Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, and Minnesota: $140,000 – $171,000.
Equity:
Eligible for Cloudflare’s equity plan.
