Key Responsibilities

As a Utilization Review Assembler, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care by reviewing medical records and supporting the authorization process. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating patient medical records to assess the necessity and appropriateness of care.

  • Analyzing utilization data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

  • Collaborating with healthcare providers to gather clinical documentation and clarify treatment details.

  • Communicating with insurance companies to resolve authorization and denial issues.

  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements.

  • Managing prior authorizations, including monitoring timelines and securing renewals.

  • Documenting all reviews, communications, and determinations with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Supporting appeals by providing detailed clinical documentation when necessary.

  • Participating in utilization review (UR) meetings and contributing to department goals.

  • Handling additional tasks with attention to detail and a proactive mindset.


Qualifications & Skills

We’re seeking candidates who bring experience, focus, and a commitment to quality. Ideal candidates will have:

  • At least 5 years of utilization review experience, preferably in behavioral health, mental health, or substance use disorder (SUD) settings.

  • Familiarity with both inpatient and outpatient levels of care.

  • Understanding of standard medical necessity criteria and utilization management protocols.

  • Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems and billing processes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, and related software.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.

  • Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Comfortable working at a desk for extended periods and able to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
