Key Responsibilities
As a Utilization Review Assembler, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care by reviewing medical records and supporting the authorization process. Your responsibilities will include:

Evaluating patient medical records to assess the necessity and appropriateness of care.

Analyzing utilization data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

Collaborating with healthcare providers to gather clinical documentation and clarify treatment details.

Communicating with insurance companies to resolve authorization and denial issues.
-
Ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements.
-
Managing prior authorizations, including monitoring timelines and securing renewals.

Documenting all reviews, communications, and determinations with accuracy and timeliness.

Supporting appeals by providing detailed clinical documentation when necessary.

Participating in utilization review (UR) meetings and contributing to department goals.

Handling additional tasks with attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
Qualifications & Skills
We’re seeking candidates who bring experience, focus, and a commitment to quality. Ideal candidates will have:

At least 5 years of utilization review experience, preferably in behavioral health, mental health, or substance use disorder (SUD) settings.

Familiarity with both inpatient and outpatient levels of care.

Understanding of standard medical necessity criteria and utilization management protocols.

Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems and billing processes.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, and related software.

Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.

Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Comfortable working at a desk for extended periods and able to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
