Position Summary
We’re looking for a highly driven and talented Senior Data Scientist to join our Marketing Decision Science team. In this pivotal role, you’ll be instrumental in shaping our future marketing strategies by developing, analyzing, and interpreting Marketing Mix Models (MMM). Your work will enable data-driven decisions, partnering with cross-functional teams to quantify the impact of marketing investments, identify optimization opportunities across various channels and campaigns, and ultimately drive scalable, measurable business growth.

Data Science & Analytics Expertise: You’ll excel at designing and implementing impactful analytical approaches to help Walmart quantify and improve the effectiveness of our marketing investments. You’ll lead the adoption of Marketing Mix Models (MMM) to measure campaign performance and optimize marketing spend across a broad range of short- and long-term business objectives. Leveraging your deep understanding of data structures, you’ll scope and define data requirements to support model accuracy and scalability. You’re also hands-on, comfortable writing complex Python and SQL queries, proactively troubleshooting issues, and mentoring associates to elevate analytical rigor and quality across the team.

You’re very comfortable rolling up your sleeves to write complex code for quick prototyping and helping junior associates debug their work, elevating the overall quality.

Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative analytical field; a Ph.D. in Economics/Statistics or 3-5 years of working experience in retail/E-commerce are preferred.
- Expertise in Python and SQL, with direct experience working with very large datasets.
- Marketing Mix Model (MMM) experience is preferred.
- Proven experience leading data-driven projects from definition to execution, driving and influencing business decisions and outcomes.
- Strong organizational skills, a robust sense of ownership and accountability, and the ability to lead projects, communicate effectively, and be a self-starter.
