Job Overview

As a Staff Pharmacist at Walmart, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by processing and dispensing prescriptions, providing clinical counseling, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. You will also support company initiatives, foster a compliance-driven environment, and lead with integrity while serving your community.


Key Responsibilities

Pharmaceutical Care & Patient Services

  • Accurately process and dispense prescription medications

  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, health conditions, and treatment plans

  • Administer immunizations and other clinical programs as permitted

  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations regarding controlled substances and patient confidentiality

  • Document services and interactions in line with company and legal standards

Clinical Excellence & Quality Assurance

  • Promote a culture of safety, quality care, and patient-centered service

  • Ensure counseling and documentation of new therapies as required

  • Monitor and evaluate pharmacy operations for improvements in quality and risk reduction

  • Encourage transparent reporting of safety events and implement corrective actions

Operational & Compliance Leadership

  • Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and company compliance standards

  • Guide pharmacy associates in executing processes aligned with HIPAA, billing protocols, and SOPs

  • Perform audits and implement solutions to strengthen operational performance

  • Support the rollout and enforcement of Walmart’s compliance initiatives

Leadership & Team Engagement

  • Model exemplary customer service practices to resolve concerns and enhance satisfaction

  • Build strong relationships with associates, providing mentorship and development opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD, or foreign equivalent (FPGEC/NABP)

  • Valid pharmacy license (must be obtained by start date)

  • Completion of an ACPE-accredited immunization certification (e.g., APhA, state pharmacy association)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced clinical knowledge and leadership experience in a retail pharmacy setting
