Job Details
ACCEL Schools is hiring dedicated Virtual Teachers to create a rigorous yet nurturing online classroom environment. Using a 21st-century curriculum, teachers will deliver engaging virtual instruction while fostering student learning and social-emotional development. While this role is primarily online, candidates must be able to travel several times per year to attend state testing and student events in person.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as the teacher of record and primary instructor.

Deliver live virtual lessons based on research-based instructional practices.

Monitor student progress in asynchronous courses, grading and providing feedback daily.

Set up courses within the Learning Management System (LMS).

Track and maintain consistent communication with each student.

Review student data and adjust instructional approaches accordingly.

Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.

Incorporate culturally responsive teaching practices.

Communicate regularly with families about academic and social-emotional progress.

Create a positive, joyful, and caring classroom environment.

Participate in student events, field trips, and required in-person testing sessions.

Collaborate respectfully with colleagues and administration.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.

Residency in Ohio required.

2+ years of teaching experience preferred.

Knowledge of Ohio State Standards and Common Core Standards.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Comfortable working in a coaching environment with feedback and observation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).

Ability to manage confidential information appropriately.

Ability to supervise students and stand for up to 90 minutes.

Must pass federal and state background checks.

Experience working in multicultural settings preferred.
