About the Opportunity
The Virtual School Counselor plays a vital role in supporting student success by working closely with staff and families to guide academic programming, maintain graduation and career plans, and provide proactive and preventative counseling services. While primarily remote, this position requires occasional in-person attendance for state testing and student events throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver proactive guidance curriculum to individuals and groups

Provide responsive counseling based on student needs

Review transfer transcripts and recommend course placement

Maintain and update student graduation and career readiness plans

Create and manage Student 504 plans
-
Analyze student data to recommend academic programs and interventions

Travel within Michigan for testing support and events
Qualifications
-
Valid State School Counselor license
-
Bachelor’s degree and 1+ year counseling/advisement experience (or equivalent)

Familiarity with ASCA model and K–12 online learning

Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal laws related to counseling and reporting

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel in-state
