On behalf of our client – a well-respected North-American owned organisation specialising in offering services related to global trade, customs and logistics, we’re recruiting for a VP, Southern Border Operations role to be based in Laredo, Texas.

The Role

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, executing, and managing all aspects of the Mexican business units. This includes the delivery of all Mexican services to clients including (but not limited to) MX customs entries, post entry, in-bond, AES, Previo, and US warehouse activities etc.

The Vice President, Southern Border Operations reports to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) or their designee. This role will be accountable for providing the vision, oversight, and execution of the organization’s Mexican service and growth strategies to align with strategic organizational goals and modernization objectives. They will create an organizational environment that stimulates the morale, creativity, and productivity of the warehouse, and operational teams located in the US Southern Border and Mexico.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • MBA and/or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related degree
  • A Mexican customs expert with extensive experience, including 5 years providing strategic and inclusive leadership of a team/organization continually demonstrating business, technical and leadership qualities
  • Experience with Truck, Air, Ocean, and Rail MX customs entries as well as post-entry adjustments, and Mexican Consulting (including IMMEX program)
  • Passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking, resolving competing priorities, and meeting project deadlines
  • Authentic, open, and engaging leadership style that fosters collaboration, credibility, and accountability
  • Proven negotiation skills, gaining commitment and value creation
  • Proven leadership, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Project management with demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed critical milestones
  • Detail-oriented with exemplary follow-through skills
  • Skill analysing current procedures and then developing and executing new processes
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Customs Brokerage software with the ability to quickly learn new applications
  • Experience with advanced data analytics and Power BI preferred
  • Bilingual (fluent in both Spanish & English)
