Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Department, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and actively participating in shipping, receiving, inventory management, and asset maintenance. This role ensures efficient warehouse operations by maintaining inventory control records, preparing reports, and leading warehouse functions. The Warehouse Supervisor will also train and guide assigned staff while ensuring peak efficiency and customer satisfaction through effective organization, monitoring, and management of operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily warehouse operations, including inventory management, logistics, space utilization, and productivity.
- Lead and manage warehouse teams, optimizing workflow and ensuring high-quality output while minimizing overtime.
- Inspect and maintain warehouse equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with Sales and Procurement teams to assess productivity and develop strategies for loss prevention.
- Oversee logistics and transportation of products to customers and company facilities.
- Manage shipping and receiving processes, including unloading and inspecting shipments for damage or discrepancies.
- Ensure proper storage and organization to maximize warehouse space and efficiency.
- Train, guide, and provide work direction to warehouse staff, ensuring smooth operations.
- Conduct physical inventory checks, both periodic and annual, to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and mobile scanning devices.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Act as the primary point of contact in the absence of the Head of Department for operational support.
- Recommend improvements in warehouse efficiency, storage practices, and inventory control.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse leadership or supervisory roles.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, procedures, and equipment.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics is a plus).
- Understanding of inventory control, requisitions, purchase orders, and warehouse documentation.
- Familiarity with space utilization techniques and storage best practices.
- Ability to operate warehouse machinery, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and scanning devices.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards in warehouse operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic math and computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, inventory management software).
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions
- Physical requirements: Ability to sit, walk, talk, hear, and use hands for handling materials.
- Occasionally required to bend, stoop, or kneel for warehouse tasks.
- Vision requirements include close vision for detailed inventory and document management.
