About the Job
Syracuse University is looking for a talented Web Developer with full stack development experience to join its Digital Development team within the Division of Marketing. This role focuses on the ongoing development and maintenance of Syracuse.edu, the university’s central digital platform, as well as shared codebases powering other university websites. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the UI/UX Designer to ensure design, usability, and accessibility standards are met.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in web design, development, and maintenance.
Skills & Competencies:
-
Strong background in user interface (UI) design and front-end development.

Proficient in semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks.

Extensive experience with open-source content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress or Drupal.

Demonstrated ability to build accessible websites aligned with WCAG 2.x standards.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to independently troubleshoot and offer effective solutions.

Capable of showcasing past work and explaining responsibilities and technical approaches.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Syracuse.edu and other major university digital platforms.

Support centralized themes, templates, and application code across University websites.

Partner with the UI/UX Designer to uphold best practices in usability, accessibility, and design.

Collaborate with internal teams and university partners to enhance functionality and site performance.

Stay informed on industry trends and emerging web technologies.

Perform additional tasks as needed.
