Position Overview: Welder

💰 Pay: Competitive + $1,000 Sign-On Bonus
📍 Location: Multiple U.S. sites
🕒 Schedule: Full-time | Safety-Sensitive Position

As a Welder at Westerman, you’ll be responsible for setting up and operating advanced welding equipment to produce high-quality components that meet strict industry standards. From structural steel fabrication to precision piping, you’ll play a vital role in supporting energy infrastructure projects.

This position requires technical skill, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic to ensure that repairs, fabrications, and welds meet specifications on the first pass.


Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

  • Weld, cut, bend, and fabricate steel structures, piping, and vessels.

  • Perform quality X-ray welds consistently on separators, absorbers, and heavy-wall vessels.

  • Assemble and fit components using tack welding, bolting, or riveting.

  • Operate cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment to position materials.

  • Conduct inspections and tests (hydrostatic, x-ray, dimensional) for weld quality.

  • Maintain tools, perform equipment checks, and ensure safe work practices.

  • Execute single-hand welding, pipe fitting, and fabrication duties.

  • Dismantle, repair, and reassemble structures or equipment as needed.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 1 year of welding experience in a production or industrial environment.

  • Ability to pass weld assessment screening: 3G Plate & 2 processes (visual & bend acceptance).

  • Strong blueprint reading and measurement skills.

  • Knowledge of metals, welding rods, fluxes, and welding procedures.

  • Commitment to safety protocols and PPE use.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform moderate to heavy physical work.

  • Extended periods of standing, bending, crouching, kneeling, and climbing.

  • Ability to work in extreme hot or cold temperatures.

  • Strong range of motion and fine motor skills for tool handling.

  • Work in both open and confined spaces, including tight quarters.
