Position Overview: Welder

📍 Location: Varies by branch
💰 Compensation: Competitive, based on skills and experience
🕒 Schedule: Full-time | Safety-Sensitive Role

As a Welder at United Rentals, you’ll repair, maintain, and fabricate shoring and shielding equipment to keep our fleet safe and rental-ready. This role offers the chance to work both in-branch and occasionally on customer job sites, providing hands-on welding expertise that supports underground construction safety.

What You’ll Do

• Layout and perform Arc, MIG, and TIG welds per specifications.

• Inspect, repair, and paint returned equipment for safety and readiness.

• Perform non-structural modifications per manufacturer guidelines.

• Support active shoring installations with welding as needed.

• Fabricate new components in the shop.

• Travel occasionally to customer sites for repair/maintenance.

• Complete work orders and manage repair parts inventory.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant work environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• Welding school certification.

• 1–2 years’ welding experience (Arc, MIG, TIG).

• Knowledge of metals, welders, wire/rod sizing, and safe repair practices.

• Understanding of OSHA trenching/shoring safety standards.

• Valid driver’s license with clean record.

• Strong teamwork, customer service, and communication skills.

• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs regularly.
