Responsibilities
As a Welder at Altec, you’ll play a vital role in our manufacturing operations by performing welding, fabrication, and metal preparation tasks. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Major Responsibilities:

Perform MIG welding using a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.

Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and work orders.

Operate basic hand tools (tape measure, specialty equipment) with accuracy.

Follow established safety and quality policies, procedures, and practices.

Learn and operate all equipment within assigned work area (cell).

Perform rework as necessary to maintain quality standards.

Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives and participate in RCI events.
-
Cross-train and support other production areas as needed.
-
Maintain accurate daily time records and complete required documentation.

Train new or current associates when assigned.
Physical & Work Requirements:

Lift, push, pull, or extend items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Stand, stoop, bend, or walk for 3–5 hours at a time.

Operate mechanical and pneumatic tools.
-
Read blueprints, schematics, and tape measurements.
-
Work in environments with temperature extremes, solvents, paint, and related materials.

Wear required PPE (steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, etc.).
Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions.

Basic computer skills.

Proficiency with tape measures, blueprints, and schematics.

Previous welding experience preferred.

Ability to obtain AWS Weld Certification in 3G and 4G required.
