Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Welder (Class A) to join our team. Reporting to the Welding Group Leader or Supervisor, the Welder will fabricate and weld components according to customer drawings and specifications. This role requires advanced welding expertise, blueprint interpretation, and the ability to fabricate without fixtures. A Class A Welder is capable of handling prototypes, collaborating with engineering to develop fixtures, and consistently meeting or exceeding production cycle times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weld components using MIG and/or TIG processes according to blueprints and traveler documents.

  • Fabricate parts with or without the use of fixtures.

  • Interpret blueprints and weld symbols at an advanced level.

  • Perform setup, adjustment, and operation of welding equipment for varying steel thicknesses.

  • Operate related tools including grinders, drills, band saws, and torches.

  • Measure and lay out welded components with precision.

  • Work with engineering to assist in prototype and fixture development.

  • Maintain accurate records, paperwork, and documentation as required.

  • Follow safety protocols and departmental housekeeping standards.

  • Inspect parts, verify numbers, and notify supervisors of shortages or discrepancies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven welding knowledge through education or prior work experience.

  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques with ability to lay high-quality weld beads.

  • Strong blueprint reading and advanced weld symbol interpretation skills.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move 25–50 pounds.

  • Meet minimum 20/20 vision standards (corrective lenses acceptable).

  • Pass in-house welding test with required score.

  • Knowledge of the metric system preferred.

  • Ability to work independently at a productive pace while meeting quality standards.

Protective Equipment

  • Must provide personal welding helmet and safety shoes.

  • Use of safety glasses, welding helmet, gloves, hearing protection, grinding shield, and protective clothing required.

Work Environment

  • Regular standing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching required.

  • Exposure to welding equipment, grinding, and fabrication tools.

  • Vision requirements include close, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
