Job Function:

Under general supervision, the Welder will perform general maintenance of pipe cutting, preassembly, and installation of plumbing systems and components. This role involves monitoring production management systems to determine operational status and system malfunctions. Responsibilities may include building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, designing, and modifying production equipment related to plumbing.

Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

  • Perform general maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, including chilled water, steam, heat, water, gas, drainage, and sewage systems.
  • Operate equipment such as reamers, threading discs, sewer tapes, pipe cutters, snakes, and other plumbing tools.
  • Assist with the installation, repair, or replacement of hot and cold-water lines, building heating systems, valves, traps, backflow prevention devices, and pipes.
  • May operate machine tools to fabricate parts.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.
  • Ensure proper care, safety, and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Comply with all BRI environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • May operate forklifts and other heavy machinery.
  • Ensure daily compliance with Federal food safety regulations/laws, BRI policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Assist with routine inspection and maintenance of building system components.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to record and/or log equipment operational status.
  • Capability to utilize, test, maintain, and modify a range of engineering equipment and apparatus.
  • Proficiency in assisting with building and testing engineering and/or scientific systems and components.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems maintenance and repair.
  • Skill in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Understanding of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Awareness of current technological developments/trends in the area of expertise.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and manuals.
  • Competence in writing reports containing technical information.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools applicable to the trade.

Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • A directly related higher degree from an accredited institution or technical certification/license in Welding is preferred.
